IMG_0416-001   These class participants are very pleased with their receipts (recipes) from Mrs. Hale’s New Cook Book published in Philadelphia in 1857.   Sara Josepha Hale is noted for being the editor of the Godey’s Lady Book and her influence on Abraham Lincoln for the adoption of the Thanksgiving holiday.  The receipts prepared were (from left to right): Bread Pudding, Rich Onion Soup, Chicken Baked in Rice, and Apple Pancake.
