Quince are very rough and astringent, even raw; they cool and strengthen the Stomach, remove Nauseousness, and stop Fluxes of the Belly; raw Quinces cause the Colick, Wind, and bad Digestion; therefore ’tis proper to boil them, and sweeten them with Sugar.
